I just made a new Voki.
Wow! This one was a real challenge to create and to finally get posted correctly. I have dabbled with Voki in the past. But, I never really did much with it. Now that I have finally figured out how to actually make my avatar with accompanying voice, I can see the beauty of using this in the classroom. I plan to try it out with my students this week. With this being the last full week of our school year, it may be a challenge to keep the students on the right track. With this program, I hope to entice my students to some fun learning. The plan is to have each student create his/her own avatar and record a message to the upcoming 5th grade class to be used as a "How to" guide for a successful new school year.

So very cool. I think I am going to try this one. I am nervous because you commented that it was challenging, but if you're willing to try it with students already, I should be able to figure it out. Right? Wish me luck!!
ReplyDeleteOk, I tried to complete my Voki for upload, but couldn't figure it out. I made the Avitar and recorded it speaking, but couldn't get past that point. I kept erasing what I had just done and had to start over multiple times. How did you get past that point?

ReplyDeleteThis was definitely a lesson on trial and error! I tried every single option for sharing. But, if I remember correctly, I followed these steps:
Delete• click on the green tab "Publish your Voki"
• then choose the bottom HTML link “Grab the code and place it on your webpage”
I am using it in the classroom. My homeroom group was my set of guinea pigs. They are very excited about doing it. They got very caught up in creating their avatars. It is just going to take them several times to really get the speaking part done correctly.
ReplyDeleteThis assignment was challenging to me also. I thought I was following the directions:) I had to redo the embedding process several times. After all of your hard work, I like your Voki:) How did it go with your group of students setting up avatars? Last week ,we had too many actives to do. I will try it with my students at the beginning of next year.

The kids loved creating the avatars. We had a lot of difficulty getting the recording done correctly though. Only 4 of my 19 students was able to get their avatar saved properly. It is definitely something I want to continue to use with my students. I am hopeful that the success rate will be much higher with more experience.
